hold on to your childhood
Life seems to fly by as I get older. Things that seem important and so eventful such as holidays and birthdays seem like ordinary days. As a kid I couldn't wait for spring to come, bringing with it my birthday. I would begin my count down in December, the long four months seeming to last a year. Now its as if the years come and go in the blink of an eye. Suddenly I'm all grown up and birthdays and holidays aren't magical days that bring new hopes and treasures. They bring bills and responsibility. I look back and remember myself longing to be grown up so I could hang out with the other grown ups and share their world of secrets and private jokes. Never would I have guessed that being grown up would mean maturity and responsibility. Sometimes I see a little boy or girl pretending, in their world of make believe, that they are the parents. I long to tell them its not as easy as it looks and they should be a child as long as they can because innocents and fairy tale dreams eventually are replaced by corruption and reality.
